For most of us our RVs couldn't be more perfect when we first get them. But after just a few trips in them, we find ourselves saying, "I sure could use a ...," (fill in the blank.) To fill that need, Mark Polk shares some great suggestions for upgrades, along with reasons why he recommends them. In his 54-minute video, EZ RV Upgrades, he demonstrates how to choose and install several upgrades useful to any motor home or trailer.
He begins with an awning, pointing out the unique benefits of this awning's fabric. With his usual attention to detail, he demonstrates how to install this attractive addition, how to choose the right size, lists the right tools to have handy, and check if for safe installation and secure it for traveling.
It's always nice to be able to have fresh air, especially in small quarters. Mark suggests a nice solution that allows you to let fresh air in during wet weather, without bringing the rain inside. He guides you through all the steps of fitting this improvement to your windows, giving clear visuals of what he's explaining as he describes each step.
To improve circulation even more, he suggests an upgrade that replaces your ceiling fan/vent with one that has several convenient manual and automatic features. Mark shows you every step of the installation including how to wire it to the electrical system.
He also shows an alternative option that protects your RV in any weather, keeps the bugs out, and vents hot, musty odors. Again, Mark demonstrates each step in removing your old vent, installing the sleek roof unit, wiring the electrical system and installing the ceiling portion.
This wouldn't be an RV Education 101 video if Mark didn't include some things that many of us wouldn't know about, otherwise. One of them is a device that includes a digital voltmeter, a polarity tester, and a frequency counter. Who knew we needed all that?
Actually, Mark did. When your electrical power surges or drops too low, your appliances are at risk of being damaged. If they are, you could end up with expensive repairs or replacements. This little gem warns you of existing or impending electrical problems, and helps keep your electrical system operating safely.
Even your fridge can serve you better with a simple, inexpensive upgrade to cool your food better. He also gives some additional tips on how to keep your food cooler. Other tips include items like a device that helps improve efficiency by reducing your refrigerator's cool-down time by 50%.
You just can't have enough air circulation in an RV, especially when air from your black tank vents back into your living space. Mark suggests a wise choice in add-ons with a simple upgrade to prevent that. No one likes emptying the black tank, and basically, that's all that gets done unless you can flush it out. This video will show you another simple add-on that will flush your black tank until it's completely clean.
With so much variation in the quality of water from different campsites, you never know what you're drinking. Filters can improve the quality of drinking water, but, also, can add harmful bacteria to your water. Mark shows you a bacteriostatic filter, and why it's so effective.
For people who want a bit more light in their RVs Mark shows how to install a lighting system that lasts 4 times as long as it's competitors.
Everyone wants to know the best Internet service for RVers on the move. Many people find the cell phone Internet cards ineffective or useless. Mark shows you how to install a wireless system that increases the speed of your mobile service, can be accessed by multiple users at one time, and will work while you are en route.
He finishes his upgrade list with some high quality levelers and wheel chocks, tools you will need sooner, rather than later.
Although upgrade items, such as the ones covered in this video, usually come with installation instructions, most people learn visually. Watching Mark go through the steps of installing these items is a great help in identifying parts and putting "names to faces," so to speak. Seeing the part, position, or how it operates takes all the doubt out of these do-it-yourself installations.
