Impala Grill,
One of the most fun, coolest restaurants in Rockmart is the Impala Grill. Located on Marble Street in downtown Rockmart, the Impala Grill takes you back to the 1950s-1960s. This restaurant makes you want to strap on some roller skates and a poodle skirt (well, black slacks for the men).
In the first room, you have a bar stool area and a basic dining area. In the back room, club meetings and large family gatherings are held. My husband's car club meets there every month or so as well. Rightfully so, the back room has a restored, gorgeous Impala in the back of the room, which is always the masterpiece everyone watches. While the Impala is the focal point of the Impala Grill, the food and atmosphere are also a delight.
The Impala Grill serves a variety of food items. Hamburger, hot dogs, French fries, chips, sandwiches, ice cream, sodas, and milkshakes top the menu. The best item on the entire menu is the chocolate milkshake, but be sure to drink it slowly and watch out for the unforgiving Georgia weather. The weather is the only downfall to the Impala Grill's milkshakes. The prices are reasonable for the foods, great service, and the presence of a gorgeous car.
With the neon lights and black and white tiled floor, the Impala Grill screams, "Let's dance!" When a life-sized model of Elvis Presley greets you at the door and smiles at you throughout your meal, you can help but want to dance. Pictures and tasteful memorabilia on the walls showcase many different cars and car shows that are in Rockmart's past and history.
If you are a big car show buff, every summer a huge car show lines up and down Marble Street right in front of the Impala Grill. This is one of the best times to visit the Impala Grill. It may seem a bit busy, but you can look and drool over all the lovely, antique hot rod cars and then head for a cheeseburger, onion rings, and a chocolate shake! What can make life better than that?
If you are not a big car buff, this restaurant is still an amazing place. It holds a great deal of history, value, and importance in Rockmart. It brings back the oldie, but goodie days. Not many restaurants these days promote slowing down, enjoying your family (or dining companions), and looking back fifty years ago.
