 Slate Market Grill, Rockmart, Georgia

One of the newest editions to the Rockmart, Georgia restaurant family is the Slate Market Grill. The Slate Market Grill is locally owned by Keith Fuller, who is the mastermind behind many of Cartersville, Georgia's finest, one-of-a-kind restaurants.  Keith came back to Rockmart (where he was raised) to create this amazing restaurant.

            The Slate Market Grill is located in a newly designed and built shopping triangular center on Sycamore Grove Court in the center of Rockmart.  Located right off Highway 278, which runs through the center of Rockmart, the Slate Market Grill is easily one of the most beautiful restaurants in Rockmart.  The floors are marbled tiles, and the walls are decorated with lovely photographs.  The lightning is perfect.  Tables and booths are spaced well in the restaurant.  If you sit near the kitchen, you will get to see the waiters, waitresses, and cooking staff working hard in the back. The kitchen has a large open window to display their kitchen.  The waiting staff and hostesses are always pleasant, polite, and knowledgeable about the restaurant and menu items.  When the cooking staff or managers can, they will walk the floor to greet and check on food orders.

            On the menu, the Slate Market Grill offers an array of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, seafood, steaks, pastas, soups, burgers, and desserts.  Salads are served with amazing dressings, and most of the dressings are made onsite. The best dressing is the Greek vinaigrette that is made onsite; it is similar to a Caesar dressing.  If you are a big fan of chicken salad, but not a huge fan of mayonnaise, then the Slate Market Grill's chicken salad salad is a great choice. In Rockmart, it is by far my favorite chicken salad. The grilled salmon (either on a salad or as your main course) is always a treat.  The stir-fry beef or chicken, cappellini (by itself or with chicken or shrimp), or the country shrimp and grits are always great dishes. Sometimes the cappellini is served with a bit of pasta water (so if you don't like that, let them know).  Desserts are great at the Slate Market Grill. I have tried all of the desserts, but I am always partial to cheesecakes.  That being said, my favorite is the cheesecake.

            Although the Slate Market Grill is the newest edition to the Rockmart restaurant family, it has made a name for itself.  It is really great on prices and has an easy to find location with a large amount of parking. The Slate Market Grill is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. This restaurant does accept gift certificates, cash, and credit cards.
